Mount Etna is a capricious, paramount personality, 500 million years old. With 3300 m it is the highest volcano in Europe. The people in the region assume she is a woman, that provides all her fertility to the farmers and impresses with her beauty.  They also call her Mongibello, which hints to its latin and arab history. "Mons" means "mountain" in latin, "Dschebel" means mountain in arab. Beyond this, this "mountainmountain" is "bello", which means "beautiful" in Italian. Already Ulisses was fascinated,  and we are impressed till today. 

Ätna ist eine komplexe, überragende Persönlichkeit, 500 Millionen Jahre alt und mit rund 3300 Metern der höchste Vulkan Europas. Für die Menschen, die mit ihm leben, ist er natürlich eine Frau, die die Bauern großzügig mit ihrer Fruchtbarkeit beschenkt und mit ihrer Schönheit berauscht. Sie wird auch liebevoll Mongibello genannt, was auf ihre römische wie arabische Geschichte verweist. "Mons" bedeutet "Berg" auf lateinisch. "Dschebel" ist das arabische Wort für Berg. Darüber hinaus ist dieser "BergBerg" "bello", was "schön" auf italienisch bedeutet. Schon Odysseus auf seinen Irrfahrten war beeindruckt und wir sind es bis heute.
